"Music for Congested Minds"

We welcome the rainstorm season with "Music for Congested Minds", a 4 song EP showcasing collaborative minimal explorations between Blank Vacuum and Bobby Legaspi, two Philippines-based ambient musicians, each recognized in their own right.
"Losing Transmission" starts the recording with austere piano harmonies beautifully laid out over what resembles as crude radio static from an isolated observatory.
The listener is then invited to a dreamlike state in "Through Windows", where drowsy drone soundscapes complement evocative melodies not unlike Philip Glass.
The aptly-titled "Waiting to Reconnect" is a pensive piece that reflects an abiding urban loneliness that plagues our current situation. Dreary guitar textures are interwoven with carefully treated keyboards and fragile piano passages.
The final track, "Rest", provides lush guitar-washed ambience with a rather generous dose of vibrato. Here we are rewarded with a subtle optimism, and a deeper sense of rest from foreboding.
Both artists' DIY ethic and thorough commitment to their craft are nothing short of admirable. "Music for Congested Minds" is a brief, bittersweet listening experience suitable whether you're observing rain-drenched cityscapes or flowers slowly blooming. Drab and lonely yet warm and soothing.
